[IMDS]IMDS update: IMDS Terms of Use Version 7.0 (ToU V7)

On August 4, 2025, IMDS News announced a revision to the Terms of Use (ToU). The scope of IMDS, which was previously limited to the automotive industry, will be expanded to allow usage in the electrical and electronic (E/E) industry as well.

• ToU V7 Effective Date: September 8, 2025

  • Updated: Automotive & Electrical/Electronic (E/E) industries

• Terminology Update

  • Previous: IMDS Advanced Interface

  • Updated: IMDS Connect (Refer to news post dated 2025-07-10)

  • ToU V7 with Tracked Changes

Impact of the Revision

• From an Industry Perspective

  • Promotes synergy between the automotive and E/E industries

  • Enables reuse of existing IMDS material data

  • Supports extended functionalities such as RoHS compliance

• From a User Perspective

  • Advance notice provided 30 days prior via the IMDS website and email

  • Users must review and accept the updated Terms of Use upon login

  • If part of both the automotive and electronics supply chains, IMDS alone can be used to meet reporting requirements
