Overview
On March 30, 2026, IMDS Release 15.3 was deployed to the preliminary test server, MOF Next (Model Office Next).
The official system deployment is scheduled for May 11, 2026. This update includes 6 major improvements, such as increasing the precision of data searches and relaxing the password policy.
Please check the following details for the system updates and changes.
System Updates
1. New analysis option for Chemical presence type
The 'Chemical presence type' search condition will be added to the 'Where-Used Analysis' menu and the 'Tree Search' in the composition information.
You can search by selecting one of 'intended use', 'reaction residue', or 'impurity', or by designating 'all'. When you open an MDS searched with the 'Chemical presence type' condition in the 'Where-Used Analysis' menu, a Tree Search is executed, and the first process chemical matching the condition is selected.
2. Addition of Expand selected node function

Previously, the tree could only be expanded by the entire MDS unit, but now a sub-menu has been added that allows you to select only a specific node you want and expand its sub-tree.
3. Improvement of MDS Request ID search function
The MDS Request ID will be added to the 'Own Requests' and 'Received Requests' search screens, and you can look up the requested ID in the request list.
Own Requests

Received Requests
4. Weekly automatic notifications for unprocessed MDS requests
If there is not a single person in charge within the company who has subscribed to MDS notification emails, the system will automatically send a weekly summary email to all Company Admins in the company to prevent work omissions.
Notification content: Unprocessed requests received within the last 7 days, requests with deadlines within the next 7 days.
How to stop notifications: If the administrator does not want to receive this email, at least 1 user within the company must directly subscribe to MDS notifications (received/deadline) and be designated as the person in charge. (※ If there are no requests to process at all, the email will not be sent.)
5. Relaxation of password policy (Abolition of 90-day change cycle)
The obligation to change the password every 90 days has been removed. Furthermore, the restriction on the reuse of previously used passwords has been abolished.
However, to maintain security per IMDS policy, it is recommended to use a long and secure passphrase composed of multiple words rather than a short password.
Changes
Removal of warning for containing Copper in Material Classification 7.2 (Ceramics/Glass)
The warning for containing copper in Material Classification 7.2 (Ceramics/Glass) has been removed. In Material Classification 7.2, a warning was generated when more than 80% of substances from the “Chk: Classification 1-4 w/o silver, gold” group were included.
However, in IMDS Release 15.3, copper has been removed from this substance group, and the group name has been changed to “Chk: Classification 1-4 w/o silver, gold, copper”. Accordingly, the warning that occurred when copper was included has been removed.
Conclusion
Through this 15.3 update, search convenience will be increased and system restrictions will be relaxed, which is expected to improve data entry and management efficiency for the persons in charge.
We recommend that you check the impact on your work in advance by utilizing the MOF Next test period before the official deployment on May 11.
MDSKorea will always do its best to deliver useful information. Thank you.
