[IMDS]IMDS update: MCCP Substance Information Update
4 Sep 2025
On August 29, 2025, the substance information related to MCCP (Medium-Chain Chlorinated Paraffins) was updated in IMDS.
What is MCCP?
Definition: MCCPs (Medium-Chain Chlorinated Paraffins) are a group of substances in which paraffins (hydrocarbons) with approximately 14–17 carbon atoms are chlorinated.
Main Uses: Plasticizers for plastics, Flame retardants, …
Stockholm Convention: Agreed to list in Annex A through SC-12/10 (May 9, 2025)
GADSL: Included in Entry 60, with some LCCPs (Long-Chain Chlorinated Paraffins) also present
LCCP: LCCPs have carbon chain lengths of C18 or higher, but during production, some MCCPs (C14–C17) may be present

Regulation Wizard
If a material contains MCCP, the relevant regulatory information must be entered
For MCCPs, they are subject to Dynamic SVHC, and whether a substance is considered SVHC is determined based on the entered information
See the example of 85535-86-0 (substance designated as SVHC on August 29) for reference
Fig. 1: When added to a material, it becomes subject to regulatory information entry (If regulatory information is not entered, the substance will be considered SVHC)
Fig. 2: Whether a substance is considered SVHC is determined based on the response to “The Substance contains” in the Regulation Wizard
Fig. 3: If regulatory information is not entered or “≥80% – linear chloroalkanes with carbon chain lengths within the range from C14 to C17” is selected, the substance will be considered SVHC
Fig. 4: If regulatory information is entered but “≥80% – linear chloroalkanes with carbon chain lengths within the range from C14 to C17” is not selected, the substance will not be considered SVHC
