This article introduces the upcoming IMDS Release 15.2, which is scheduled to be implemented in January 2026. IMDS Releases are system updates carried out to improve functionality and usability. Four updates are planned for Release 15.2, as listed below.
※ Source of planned IMDS Release 15.2 updates: Preliminary IMDS Release 15.2 Information (V1.0)
Exemption of Ceramics/Glass from BPR regulation
No “rest” portion for GADSL/SVHC substances
Date of last status change displayed in MDS search
Updated message for successful checks
1. Exemption of Ceramics/Glass from BPR regulation
Material classification 7.2 (Ceramics/Glass) will be excluded from BPR regulatory information requirements. This change is similar to the update introduced in Release 12.0, in which metal material classifications 1–4 were exempted from BPR regulatory information input. Details of the update are as follows.
※ BPR (Biocidal Products Regulation): An EU regulation that governs the manufacture, sale, and use of biocidal products.

2. No “rest” portion for GADSL/SVHC substances
For newly created material MDSs, the “rest” type can no longer be selected for GADSL or SVHC substances. If an existing MDS containing a GADSL or SVHC substance that was previously entered using the “rest” option is edited, an error message will appear during the check process.

3. Date of last status change displayed in MDS search
A new field, “last status change,” will be added to the MDS search screen. Depending on the MDS type and its current status, the corresponding date shown will follow the rules summarized in the table below. This enhancement will allow users to check status-specific change dates more easily.

Type
| Status
| Displayed last status change date
|
|---|
Own MDS/Module | edit mode | - |
Own MDS/Module | internally released | release date |
Own MDS/Module | published | publish date |
Own MDS | handshake | send date |
Supplier MDS | accepted | acceptance date |
Supplier MDS | published | publish date |
4. Updated message for successful checks
The message displayed when an MDS produces no warnings or errors during the check process will be updated. Even if an MDS passes all IMDS checks, it may still be rejected due to legal or customer-specific requirements. Therefore, this change is intended to clarify that passing IMDS checks does not necessarily mean that all applicable requirements have been fulfilled.
Current message: This MDS successfully passed all checks
Updated message: This MDS has passed all included checks. These checks do not cover all aspects of IMDS data requirements. Further manual review may be required

※ BPR (Biocidal Products Regulation): An EU regulation that governs the manufacture, sale, and use of biocidal products.
Example for cases where BPR substances are included in material classification 7.2:
After the implementation of Release 15.2, entering BPR regulatory information will no longer be required in the regulatory information field (the substance itself will be removed and no longer displayed)
BPR regulatory information in material MDSs entered prior to the implementation of Release 15.2
Material classification 7.2: Previously released regulatory information will be retained.
Material classifications 1–4 & 7.2: If regulatory information has not been released, a new regulatory information version stating that “the substance is no longer subject to BPR requirements” will be automatically released and the status will be changed to completed.
“rest” option not selectable: When the substance is an SVHC, the “rest” option will be disabled
When editing an existing material MDS that uses the “rest” option: an error will occur.
